Western of the city of Heraklion and at a distance of 20 kilometres lie the scenic beaches of Lygaria and Aghia Pelagia. Those are renowned for their high quality hotel complexes and their nice fish taverns. A little more west, we come across Fodele beach. The picturesque village under the same name lies at the hinterland among fragrant orangeries and has many excellent taverns.
