Opposite the port of Heraklion lies the islet of Dia, where there is a Cretan wildgoat (kri-kri) farming facility. We can reach the island by boat from the port of Heraklion. Usually, there are organized daily trips to the area of Aghios Georgios, where there is a chaper bearing the same name, as well as a tavern serving delicious food. At the southern coast s of the islet, following the researches of the world-wide famous oceanographer Jack Yves Cousteau, important vestiges of shipwrecks dating back to the Minoan period and up to contemporary times have seen the light.
