Follow the dirt road that comes from Mithi just a little before Males westward and to the right towards the village of Mathokotsana. The scenery here is made up largely of cypress trees, although there are also vineyards and cultivated plots. Along this route you will see stone-built agricultural buildings whose construction blends in with the natural environment, but where this harmony has been disturbed by the intrusion of modern concrete ones.
Keeping to the right at the junction of the road that comes from the village of Christos, you will soon arrive at some traditional coffee shops and tavernas that will cater to all your needs. From this point on you follow the constructed trail that has also been signposted, slightly westward and southward towards Neraidogoula, turning progressively eastwards towards Metaxochori. You are now passing through one of the best preserved portions of the forest of Selakano.
Pay extra attention to the location and direction of the signs here because otherwise you may experience some confusion with junctions of forest roads and the little river near Metaxochori. A short distance from Metaxochori is the village of Christos with its traditional coffee shops, and also before returning to Males you will find a traditional taverna next to a refreshing spring in the planetree covered village of Aghia Paraskevi. In Males itself there are some interesting religious sights such as Panagia and Mesochoritisa, Michail Archangelos and Aghios Haralambos that are worth seeing.
