Manolis Anagnostakis (1925 – 2005) was one of the most important poets of the first post-war generation. His father’s birthplace was Roustika in Rethymno.
He studied Medicine and was specialized as a radiologist in Vienna. Some of Manolis Anagnostakis’ poems were set to music by Mikis Theodorakis and other Greek composers and translated into foreign languages.
The cultural centre Anestis and Manolis Anagnostakis is housed in the family’s home, which was donated to the community of Roustika by the poet himself. There you can see collections about his life and his work.
