Right after Matala, we enter the zone of the lengthy coasts and beaches of Mesara. The erosional activity of Geropotamos for millions of years now has contributed to the smoothing of the ground, a fact that also determines the geomorphology of the beaches here. A series of successive beaches with thin pebble, crystal-clear waters, scarce, tourist facilities, yet enough to serve the visitor without overwhelming the landscape. Those are the common features of a series of beaches, which are only different in name in most cases: Kommos, Kalamaki, Kokkinos Pyrgos.
