Eastern of Heraklion, eight kilometers away from the center of the city, lies Amnissos Beach, where there used to be a Minoan mansion. It was there that the famous fresco of the Lilies was found, currently exhibited in the Archaeological Museum. The lengthy beach of the area has significant modern entertainment infrastructures for bathing and other sea pleasures.
